Maguire Yoh, MEd
Associate Counselor
As a therapist, my goal is to first and foremost create a safe therapeutic space to build rapport as we work together to tackle any and every challenge together. I offer individual therapy for every age from adolescence through the various stages of adulthood. My approach to counseling is rooted in the person-centered theory with a specific lens of systems theory. I am also well versed in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), and I have a unique interest in the Polyvagal approach, which focuses on addressing imbalances in your nervous system functioning as the first step towards your mental well-being. I use this integrative approach to address a wide variety of challenges like depression, anxiety, familial struggles, and adjustment-related difficulties.
I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Georgia and earned my master’s degree in Counselor Education specializing in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling at Augusta University. I completed internships in community mental health working with individuals with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses, as well as with incarcerated individuals. Additionally, throughout graduate school, my work with Augusta University’s Multicultural Student Engagement Office emboldened my passion for working with multicultural populations.
Outside of the therapeutic space, I spend my time reading books, running, and caring for my Golden Doodle. My special talent includes having a song and/or book recommendation for every situation.
Areas of Interest: End of Life Therapeutic Care, Grief/Bereavement, Family/Relational Challenges
